WSOP Day 15: Ladies Led the Charge on Busy Friday

Monday, June 7, 2010 posted by admin 7:17 pm

There was so much going on at the 2010 World Series of Poker on Friday, June 11, that it became tough to focus. By concentrating on one tournament for awhile, the other five got out of hand. Two starting events, two second days, and two final tables brought players and fans to the Rio in droves and worked the tournament staff and media to a maximum capacity.

The tournament that received the most attention was the $1K ladies-only championship. There was controversy from the noon start, as several men registered for the event – some in drag, others in men’s clothing – and the majority of the field of women was not happy. Jason The Dream : WSOP Day 14 Re-cap

Sunday, June 6, 2010 posted by admin 8:27 am

Day 14 of the World Series of Poker was yet another spectacle of action, with just one bracelet handed out to Jason Dewitt in the $5k NLHE but five other gripping tournaments played out as well.

The day brought many twists and turns and without further ado – here they are.

Event #17 – $5k NLHE

Mooted as perhaps the toughest WSOP No-Limit Hold’em field in the series so far, the $5k was back in effect with 18 players still in the hunt for the bracelet.

Jeff Williams, David Benefield and Antonio Esfandiari were amongst the big stars returning to play to the bracelet but ultimately it was Jason DeWitt who saw off the heavily-supported Englishman Sam Trickett heads-up to win the bracelet and $818,959 first prize.

“It was the toughest final table I’ve played in,” said DeWitt following his epic win.

Event #18 – $2k Limit

144 Limit aficionados returned for day 2 of the $2k Limit and after a tough day of playing through the streets, the numbers had been whittled neatly down to the ten players who remain in contention to win the bracelet on the final table.

The ten that will return tomorrow include Eric Buchman, who narrowly missed out on a WSOP Limit bracelet in 2006 but will have the chance to rectify that near-miss when they resume at 3 p.m.

Show it or muck it

Friday, November 13, 2009 posted by admin 6:09 pm

So, I found this article pretty interesting:

http://www.pokernews.com/news/2009/09/where-is-the-gamesmanship-a-controversial-hand-7196.htm

The article basically says that Tobias Reinkemeier is a bad sportsman because Roland De Wolfe (shown right) of Full Tilt Poker mucked his winning hand rather than showing both his cards. The opinion of the article is that Reinkemeier was angle shooting, but I certainly don’t agree with it.

World Series of Poker November Nine Profile — Kevin Schaffel

World Series of Poker November Nine Profile — Kevin Schaffel
No one really knew what to think about Kevin Schaffel when he secured himself a spot in the November Nine.

Phil Ivey was already, of course, a known commodity. Jeff Shulman, Eric Buchman, and James Akenhead had previously established themselves in the poker world with some recognizable success. Joe Cada and Antoine Saout seemed like your stereotpypical solid Internet-age players, while Darvin Moon had his common man mystique and Steven Begleiter carried with him his Bear Stearns past.

But Schaffel was initially a mystery to most poker fans. In his early 50s, he is the oldest player at this year’s final table. B (Read the full post about ‘World Series of Poker November Nine Profile — Kevin Schaffel’…)
